Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club

The OVGA welcomes the official opening on 7 July 2019 of the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club by Wood Marsh Architects. Formed in 1948, the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club currently has over 1000 members, with approximately 350 of those junior or “nipper” members. The new facility replaces the one which was more than 25 years’ old, no longer fit for purpose and only catered for 250 members.

The new design demonstrates the shared vision of the surf club, architects Wood Marsh and Barwon Coast Committee of Management. The OVGA was approached in 2016 to provide procurement advice on the design services tender documents, selection process and evaluation panel for the architects. Following appointment of the architects, the OVGA monitored the project and provided desktop design advice to ensure that the architectural quality of this significant community building was protected. We congratulate the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club, the architects Wood Marsh and builders Ireland Brown on this significant community and member facility.

David Pavia, President Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club noted that “the insights and expertise of the OVGA were greatly appreciated”.
