Carey Lyon is one of the founding Directors of the well-known Australian design practice Lyons, and is an Adjunct Professor with the School of Architecture and Design at RMIT University in Melbourne. His practice's work was recognised in the year 2002 with the Victorian Architecture Medal and in 2000 by representing Australia at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Carey Lyon was elected as National President of the Australian Institute of Architects in 2006/2007, the peak member body for Australian architects. He is also a Board Member of the Green Building Council of Australia and Chair of its Technical Steering Committee. Lyons work has been extensively published in a range of national and international publications including the Phaidon World Atlas of Contemporary Architecture and the recent Modern Architecture A-Z by Taschen.
