Architect

Kim Irons is an award winning architect and the founding Principal of Irons McDuff Architecture. IMA is a regionally based practice focussing on the crafting of residential and community projects. Prior to establishing IMA in 2006, Kim led design teams in the practice and delivery of architecture and built projects in local and international design studios. During that time she specialised in institutional, community, and various single and multi- residential projects as well as hotels and master plans.

Kim was a staff member in the Office of the Victorian Government Architect from 2009 to 2015, advocating for and advising on the value of good design and the mechanisms to deliver it in the built environment. She developed strategic guidelines on the procurement of built projects and provided design review and policy development for transport infrastructure.

Kim plays an active role in the architecture profession and wider community, contributing as a writer, occasional lecturer and guest critic within schools of architecture. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Architect's Victorian Chapter Council and the Office for Design + Architecture South Australia Design Review Panel.
