Landscape Architect 

 

Dean holds a Bachelor of Planning and Design (Hons) and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Melbourne. Dean has over 25 years’ experience in the design industry in private and public sectors. Initially focusing on Landscape Architecture, Dean’s interest and expertise has evolved into the broader city shaping urban design of projects, from initial visioning and master planning, through to detailed resolution and implementation.


Dean is a Principal in Urban Design at Architectus, a national practice offering architecture, interior design, urban design and planning across many sectors. Roles prior to Architectus include being the lead Urban Designer at Development Victoria where he provided design direction and design review across a wide portfolio of projects from land development to mixed use renewal sites and precincts across Victoria. Dean has also held senior design positions at Jacobs and Meinhardt. He has experience leading design teams within multi-disciplinary practices including over 14 years with Hassell in both Melbourne and Sydney, where, as a Principal, he led many complex projects across infrastructure, industrial, education and residential sectors.


A highly respected industry leader, Dean has been a member of the OVGA’s Design Review Panel since 2014 and was recently a member of the LXRA’s Urban Design Advisory Panel. His association with AILA includes a 2-year position on the Victorian Executive and roles on AILA design juries, education committees and public sector committees. Dean was a jury member for the 2017 Victorian UDIA Awards.
