Entries from Victorian architects to the Future Homes design competition are part of two exhibitions affiliated with Melbourne Design Week.

‘Future Homes: Rethinking our approach to housing a nation’, curated by IBA Melbourne, is showing work from both the industry and student competitions. The exhibition is hosted at Melbourne School of Design and more information can be found here.

‘A New Suburban Ambition’ at Monash Art Design & Architecture explores the opportunities of suburban transformation, asking “what do we want our suburbs to become?” Further information on the exhibition and associated events can be found here.

Jill Garner, Chair of the Future Homes Jury, spoke with Sophie Rzepecky about the competition and the opportunities for Melbourne’s suburbs. You can read Jill’s interview in Assemble Papers, in print and online here.
