Jill Garner AM recognised with Australia Day Honours

The Council of the Order of Australia has recognised Victorian Government Architect, Jill Garner in the 2021 Australia Day Honours List.

The Council of the Order of Australia has recognised Victorian Government Architect, Jill Garner in the 2021 Australia Day Honours List. Jill was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) 'for significant service to architecture, to professional associations, and to education.'

Jill was appointed the Victorian Government Architect in 2015 and was the Associate Government Architect from 2010-2015. Jill is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and has taught at both RMIT and Melbourne University in architectural design, theory and contemporary history. Jill is a regular national design critic and juror for design competitions, the universities and industry awards.

Her practice Garner Davis Architects has received Institute awards for institutional and commercial architecture and together with Bates Smart Architects, is providing pro bono design services for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s new hub in Dandenong in south-east Melbourne.

This award is due recognition for Jill’s commitment in advocating the value and legacy of good design.
