Jocelyn Chiew

Jocelyn has diverse experience in the planning, design and delivery of civic projects.

Jocelyn is a registered architect, landscape architect and urban designer. She is currently the director of the City Design Studio at the City of Melbourne.

Her practice has been based in consulting and client-side roles. Her experience spans master planning, strategy, project briefing, procurement, design review and advocacy. Notable major projects include:

  • Chapel Vision structure plan
  • Corio Norlane physical plan
  • Monash master plan
  • Monash University Public Art master plan

Jocelyn led the master planning and design of Monash University’s campuses and sites in Australia. She managed the:

  • Monash Design Review Panel
  • Design Consultant Selection Committee
  • the University’s ongoing contributions to Open House Melbourne

Jocelyn’s industry roles include:

  • Australian Institute of Architects Victorian chapter councillor
  • chair of the Property Council of Australia's Innovation Precincts Task Force
  • chair of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects AILA Victorian awards committee
  • chair of the AILA Gender Equity Working Committee
  • member of the international Association of University Architects (AUA)

She advocates for the value of design investment and innovation.

She has led Master of Urban Design studios at the University of Melbourne and continues to share insights.
