As founding partner, Koos is actively involved in all DKO projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. As Principal of DKO, Koos heads team of over 200 designers whose expertise spans:

  • urban design
  • master planning
  • architecture
  • interior design

Koos has grown a dynamic design practice that’s core strength lies in innovative design and effective delivery.

Koos has a particular strategic understanding of residential design in all its forms. He is driven by a passion to explore new housing types, forms and configurations. Design responses should embrace and enrich contemporary residential lifestyle.

His passion for interrogating convention, with a firm commitment to architectural integrity, delivers a strong emphasis on sustainable communities.

Before establishing DKO Architecture, Koos was a director at HPA Architecture. He spent 12 years designing and managing some of the Mirvac Group’s most complex architecture and urban projects in Australia. Koos has been involved in award–winning projects, such as:

  • The Melburnian and Beacon Cove in Melbourne
  • Raleigh Park in Sydney
  • Saville Apartments in Brisbane

Koos is currently leading a Masters Design Studio at the University of Melbourne. He is also an active member of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Koos graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands with a Master’s in architecture and urban design.
