Monica Qing is an urban designer and planner with more than 17 years of experience in both the private and public sectors. Educated in China and the UK, Monica worked in both places before arriving in Australia, gaining experience in local government prior to joining the Office of the Victorian Government Architect. In her role as Principal Adviser Monica brings integrated big-picture thinking to urban design visions for:

  • transport led precincts
  • complex city shaping infrastructure projects.

Monica has a progressive understanding of the processes, challenges and potential in various economic and political contexts. Her impactful OVGA engagements include:

  • global best practice for places impacted by transport infrastructure
  • master planning at a precinct scale
  • level crossing removal program.

Monica’s qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Urban Design and City Planning, (Huazhong University of Science and Technology)
  • Master of Spatial Planning, (University College London)
  • LEED Credited Professional, Green Building Council, UK.

Monica is a passionate and observant urban thinker and a champion for integrating the multiple design disciplines that shape a thriving built environment.
