Peter's experience is in the design, documentation and construction of major public architectural and urban design projects.

Peter was NSW Government Architect from 2006 - 2012. He has over 40 years experience in Australia and overseas in both the private sector and government. He writes and lectures on architecture with a particular interest in Islamic Architecture.

Peter is a:

  • Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects
  • former vice president of the NSW Chapter
  • visiting professor
  • an adjunct professor at the Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW

Peter is currently a member of the:

  • City of Sydney Design Advisory Panel
  • Victorian Design Review Panel
  • South Australian Design Review Panel
  • Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority Design Panel (WA)
  • Sydney Olympic Park Design Review Panel
  • Sydney Opera House Design Advisory Panel
  • UNSW Design Excellence Review Panel

He regularly sits on design juries for competitions and projects in Australia and internationally.

He has served on the:

  • NSW Heritage Council and chaired its Approvals Committee
  • Central Sydney Planning Committee
  • NSW Architects Registration Board as deputy president
  • International Union of Architects (2014 - 2017) as councillor

His projects have received many awards for architecture, urban design and adaptive reuse.
