Peter was NSW Government Architect from 2006 - 2012. He has over 40 years experience in Australia and overseas in both the private sector and government. He writes and lectures on architecture with a particular interest in Islamic Architecture.
Peter is a:
- Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects
- former vice president of the NSW Chapter
- visiting professor
- an adjunct professor at the Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW
Peter is currently a member of the:

- South Australian Design Review Panel
- Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority Design Panel (WA)
- Sydney Olympic Park Design Review Panel

He regularly sits on design juries for competitions and projects in Australia and internationally.
He has served on the:
- NSW Heritage Council and chaired its Approvals Committee
- Central Sydney Planning Committee
- NSW Architects Registration Board as deputy president
- International Union of Architects (2014 - 2017) as councillor
His projects have received many awards for architecture, urban design and adaptive reuse.
