Kim Irons is the founding Principal of Irons McDuff Architecture an award winning practice focussing on the crafting of residential and community projects in regional areas. Prior to establishing Irons McDuff, Kim led design teams in the practice and delivery of architecture in local and international design studios. During that time she specialised in institutional, community, and various single and multi- residential projects as well as hotels and master plans.

From 2009 to 2015 Kim was appointed at the Office of the Victorian Government Architect, to advocate for and advise on the value of good design and the mechanisms to deliver it in the built environment. She developed strategic guidelines on the procurement of built projects and provided design review and policy development for transport infrastructure. She continues to provide independent design review and advice to government agencies, ministerial departments and private consortia on large infrastructure projects.

Kim plays an active role in the architecture profession and wider community, contributing as a writer, occasional lecturer and guest critic within schools of architecture. She is the Regional Chair and regular award juror for the Australian Institute of Architect's Victorian Chapter Council, and member of the Mornington Design Assessment Panel
